The day started off in the lobby of the Opus Hotel in Yaletown. We were watching Katie arrive outside right as Chuck walked into the lobby to pay for a burger, completely unknown to him the Katie was walking towards the door. Acting quickly we blocked them to from seeing each other before heading up for some getting ready photos.
Afterwards Katie and Chuck saw each other properly during their first look which we set up at Vanier Park. While doing some portraits there we talked about how it would be great if we could borrow a dog for some photos and a short while later a lady came by walking three dogs and we jumped at the opportunity!
We then headed to some truly unique spots for portraits, starting with a rooftop parking lot for some photos with the vintage Bentley that they had rented. From there we headed to Gorin Brother’s Hat Shop and finished at the Yaletown Distillery Bar + Kitchen. The Distillery looked like a Prohibition Era bar which fit their wedding theme perfectly!
The wedding ceremony and reception took place Brix and Mortar, which was adorned with greenery and little vintage elements.
Their intimate ceremony took place in the courtyard surrounded by family and friends. Personalized vows were read as guests cried watching on. After the ceremony there was a big cheer from everyone, and then the couple danced back down the aisle together to join their guests for cocktail hour.
Katie and Chuck met at a dingy saloon swing dance event in Calgary, where they used to live. I’m glad that they’re still very much into dancing because they brought down the house with the first dance!
