From the laid-back getting-ready vibes to the dance floor happenings, this wedding unfolded across VanDusen Botanical Gardens and Shaughnessy Restaurant. Phil's surprise serenade after the first dance adds an unexpected twist to a day filled with genuine moments.
The day began with a traditional Chinese tea ceremony at Sharon’s family home.
After the first look we headed to Van Dusen for some portraits with the wedding party as well as the couple.
Transitioning to Shaughnessy Restaurant, the ceremony and reception exuded a relaxed elegance. No frills, just heartfelt moments that captured the essence of their love and the joy of the occasion.
Following the western ceremony came a traditional Korean wedding ceremony which was lots of fun to photograph! My two highlights were the date toss to determine how many kids the couple would have along with the piggy back at the end. Phil was actually supposed to piggy back his mom too but she understandingly declined haha.
The reception was followed by speeches, yummy food, table toasting, and a first dance. One of the day's standout moments came when Phil surprised Sharon with a song he'd been practicing – a genuine highlight that perfectly summed up their personalities and the spirit of the day.
