San Francisco is like a second home to me. I've got lots of family there so I visit every couple of years.
For my first day there I just took my time and went for a walk around the neighbourhood. I've been to all these spots before, but it was just so good to be there again.
The second day started with some exploring in the city. Having been to San Francisco a good number of times now, most new city exploring involves eating, but the first place we visited was actually somewhere I haven't been before. I've got a thing for old buildings so the first spot we went to was Mission Dolores, the oldest building in San Francisco. After that, we went for a walk around Dolores Park where I found the complete catalogue of Harry Potter books just left out on a ledge!
For lunch, we walked over to La Taqueria, which was absolutely packed and the line up was super long which meant that the food was killer! After lunch we went across the street to Mission Pie as pie is one of my favourite desserts. To work off the lunch we took a stroll around Mt Davidson which offered a pretty decent view of the city.
I really wanted to catch a good photo of the sunset because the sunsets in San Francisco aren't blocked by mountains like they are in Vancouver, so the reflection off the water is just amazing. Having been around the city lots I wanted to go somewhere outside of the city and decided on Half Moon Bay. The drive there looked really promising but by the time we got there it was super foggy which was a bummer.
The next day we continued with the out of city explorations and drove across the Golden Gate Bridge to Marin County to Hike Mt. Tamalpais. The hike itself is actually super short and offers great views of the entire Bay Area.
My cousin's husband has a DSLR that he seldom uses and he asked me to teach him how to use it. He got so into it that we actually took 6x the amount of time to hike up the mountain because he was stopping so much. I managed to sneak a shot of him in his best photographers pose.
That evening I was determined to catch a photo of the sunset so I walked over to Baker Beach and waited. This time the fog didn't come in and I managed to get the picture that I was after.
The next day we headed to Rodeo Beach which is kinda at the base of Mt. Tam. The landscape had a bit of a European vibe to it.
Afterwards, we headed into Napa Valley and visited the Old Faithful Geiser, some goat friends as well as a winery.
I started my last day like I did my first day and went for a long walk around the neighbourhood. This time I decided to go for a little hike in search of Mile Rock Beach. After taking a wrong turn I eventually found my way there, took in some ocean air and made my way home.
