Top Wedding Venues in Vancouver

From mountain-top lakes to oceanside views, there are many options to choose from when you’re planning your wedding in Vancouver. Here are my top 20 favourite venues, in no particular order. All the venues on this list offer both ceremony and reception services which help saves you time on the wedding day!

Brock House Restaurant

Bride and groom standing at end of aisle under a tree

Brock House is located right at Jericho Beach which makes it a prime location to have your wedding. You can have all of your portraits done at the beach or park and then walk on over to your wedding. The cocktail hour usually takes place in the back yard of Brock House, and its very spacious which really gives it a garden party feel. The tent for the reception fits up to 180 guests and the venue rental includes help with the set up and take down. Check out the photos from this Scottish Brock House wedding!

Evans Lake

Bride and groom rowing canoe on lake surrounded by trees

Evans Lake is located on a mountain in Squamish. If you want an outdoor wedding with stunning views, you should definitely take Evans Lake into consideration. This place is seriously one of the most Instagram worth locations that I’ve shot at. The ceremony takes place in the middle of the woods and it’s truly a unique experience as you almost have to hike a little to get in there. High heels are not recommended! You actually get the whole place to yourself with the venue rental, which includes the lake and the canoes! Cabins can be available for up to 135 of your guests as part of the wedding rental package. Brix & Mortar

Bride and groom standing at end of aisle during wedding ceremony

Brix & Mortar, or Brix as its more commonly known is located in the heart of Yaletown. The venue has a max capacity for 90 seated guests which makes it perfect for a more intimate wedding. If you’re considering having your wedding at Brix, I would recommend getting your photos done at Olympic Village or English Bay as they are nice locations which are also close by. Of course, if you want more urban photos you can make your way around Yaletown. Brix is known for their gorgeous ceremony space which works well for both summer and winter weddings as it is fully covered and heated. View the blog post to this wedding which includes the most incredible first dance!

Cecil Green is located right at UBC which means you’ve got a plethora of portrait locations to choose from! You can go to a nearby beach, you can go to Pacific Spirit Park, you can go around the campus, you can even do your portraits at Cecil green itself. If it rains you can go to the Buchanan Building which is just a short walk away and it’s got all the cover that you need. The interior of Cecil Green is beautiful and while most ceremonies do happen outside, it's definitely not a compromise to have your ceremony inside! Cecil Green has capacity for up to 200 guests. Camp Howdy

Bride and groom celebrating after their wedding ceremony

Camp Howdy is located in Belcarra, just across the Indian Arm from Deep Cove. With a mountainous backdrop for the ceremony, it’s a great choice if you are looking for a ceremony location with a west coast feel. The venue has a small forest that you can use for photos, as well as its own beach which your guests can actually dock their boats at if they want to boat in. The open area next to the reception space is huge which makes it a perfect spot for yard games for your guests during cocktail hour. Check out this Camp Howdy wedding with a 17 person bridal party!

VanDusen Botanical Garden

Bride and groom whimsically walking through a path of trees

VanDusen is one of the most popular spots in town for an outdoor ceremony, and for a good reason. During the warmer months, they have every sort of greenery that you can imagine. Everything this region has to offer, VanDusen has got it, and more! I’ve shot there multiple times and I still haven't been around the whole space yet. If you’re looking to have a massive ceremony, VanDusen has got you covered as they have space for up to 800 guests for the ceremony. There is also an events space to hold your reception or you can hop over next door to Shaughnessy Restaurant. Check out some photos from an intimate early spring wedding.

Shaughnessy Restaurant

restaurant set up for a wedding with long tables

Shaughnessy Restaurant is conveniently located right within VanDusen Botanical Gardens and in fact, some of the produce used by the restaurant is harvested directly from the garden! One of the best things about Shaughnessy Restaurant is that it’s already beautiful inside so you don’t have to do much to it if you don’t want to. With that said, of course, you can always add your own personal touch to bring things to the next level. With capacity for weddings from as small and intimate as 25 guests, all the way up to 175 guests seated, this is one versatile venue that you should really consider. Check out some photos from this fun autumn wedding.

The Teahouse in Stanley Park

Bride and groom walking down the aisle after their wedding ceremony

The Teahouse in Stanley Park is a great venue for a smaller wedding as the reception space has wonderful natural light and offers a more intimate dining experience, with room for 70 guests. In terms of the food, The Teahouse is one of the best in the lower mainland for weddings, and I’ve eaten a lot of wedding venues! When you have your wedding here, portraits are also super easy as you are right in the heart of Stanley Park. Check out photos from my latest wedding at The Teahouse.

Fraser River Lodge

Bride and groom at their ceremony with a mountain backdrop

Fraser River Lodge is located in the Fraser Valley so it's a bit out of town, but not so far that you can’t return home to Vancouver at night. The big selling point of the venue is, of course, the mountainous backdrop that you get for your ceremony. It’s a stunning sight that is absolutely to be seen in person. The reception space is clean, has seating for 200 guests and it’s very easy to get good photos in. As a plus, Fraser River Lodge is the only venue on this list that offers on-site accommodation. The staff there are super friendly and there's also a bison farm next door if everything else wasn’t enough already!

Type of venue: Lodge
Standout Feature: Mountainous backdrop
Plated/Buffet Service: Buffet

UBC Botanical Gardens is a great venue if you’re looking to have an outdoor wedding. There are multiple spots where you can have your ceremony depending on how big your wedding will be and the portrait locations are plentiful. The arbour at the Botanical Gardens is one of the best spots for a long table dinner in the lower mainland! Depending on the location, the venue will have room for up to 100 guests.

Hart House

Groomsmen cheersing at a wedding reception

Hart House is located in Burnaby’s Deer Lake Park and offers one of the biggest tented venues in town with capacity for 200. Ceremonies typically happen outside on the lawn, next to the tent and the reception is inside. The tent has nice ambience and it’s also heated for those early spring or late summer weddings. Portrait spots are plentiful around Deer Lake Park.

The Pipe Shop

Gay indoor wedding ceremony

The Pipe Shop is located right in Lonsdale Quay in North Vancouver. With ample space, The Pipe Shop has room for weddings that are up to 360 guests. One of my favourite things about shooting there is the amount of natural light the comes in. The light is great during the daylight hours and once the sun sets there’s a perfect amount of ambience for the photos. The venue is a blank canvas so you can decorate it to have a 100% personalized wedding. Check out this fun Chinese and Jewish wedding shot at the venue.

Type of venue: Heritage building
Standout Feature: Large blank under canvas space with amazing natural light
Plated/Buffet Service: Need to hire own catering.
